Should you be travelling from interstate, or rural Qld, we can arrange your initial consult by telephone or video and help you with your surgery booking by remote. We strive to provide our interstate patients with the highest level of personalised service from the outset.
The surgical journey of an interstate patient is a little different from the traditional patient journey. The following steps outline the standard process undertaken by an interstate patient:
Step 1: Virtual Consultation with Dr Adib
Your virtual consultation may be over the phone or by video, using Zoom.
After you have spoken to Dr Adib, one of our patient coordinators will call to discuss with you further detail including your personalised surgery quote, possible superannuation paperwork and dietitian information. We will ensure that you have all the information required to prepare for a smooth surgery and recovery.
Step 2: Surgery
When it’s time for your surgery, we recommend arriving in Brisbane a day prior to your surgery so that you can have your pre-operative appointment at the Wesley Pre- Admissions Clinic.
Step 3: Recovery
Dr Adib recommends that interstate patients stay in Brisbane for at least one week following your operation to ensure your recovery is going smoothly prior to travel. We will book you in for a post-op consult in our rooms with Dr Adib and our dietitian, to see how you’re feeling, before you return home. There are several apartment or hotel options close by for your stay. Please ask our friendly staff for further details.
Step 4: Post Operative Care
Here at Brisbane Obesity Clinic we have a 12 month care plan with our dietitian which extends to our interstate and overseas patients. Our dietitians Annette Pinto and Annette Williams will consult with you at 1 week, 4 weeks, 12 weeks and at 12 months after your surgery. These appointments can be completed virtually via Zoom or phone call. If you require any additional appointments with our dietitian, these can be made at your convenience.
